Job Summary
- We are expanding our technical team and seek a competent, COREN-registered Electrical Engineer to manage all electrical works from design to final handover.
- The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design review, installation, supervision, testing and maintenance of all electrical systems across our project sites, ensuring quality, safety, cost-efficiency and timely delivery in line with Nigerian standards.
Responsibilities
Site Supervision & Execution:
- Supervise and manage all electrical installations on site: power distribution, lighting, power sockets, DBs, panels, transformers, generators, UPS, and earthing systems.
- Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams (SLD), and layout drawings. Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with Civil, Mechanical, and Architectural teams to avoid clashes and ensure seamless MEP integration.
- Monitor daily progress of electrical technicians, electricians, and sub-contractors.
Design, Estimation & Procurement:
- Review and vet electrical designs and propose value engineering to save costs without compromising quality.
- Prepare load calculations, cable sizing, lighting calculations (Dialux), and BOQ for electrical materials.
- Raise material requisitions, evaluate technical submissions from suppliers, and conduct quality checks on delivered materials.
- Track material usage and prevent wastage/theft on site.
Quality, HSE & Commissioning:
- Ensure all electrical works comply with Nigerian Electricity Regulations, IEE Wiring Regulations, and HSE standards.
- Conduct pre-installation quality checks, continuity tests, insulation resistance tests, and final testing & commissioning.
- Ensure proper use of PPE, Toolbox Talks, and enforcement of safety protocols for all electrical works.
- Prepare snag lists and ensure 100% defect closure before project handover.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for electrical works.
- Maintain as-built drawings, test results, material records, and O&M manuals.
- Liaise with Client consultants, AEDC / DisCo officials, and other external stakeholders for approvals and connections.
Requirements
- B.Eng / B.Sc / HND in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience* as an Electrical Engineer in a Construction / Real Estate / MEP Contracting company. Site experience is MANDATORY.
- COREN Registered / In view* - Added advantage. NEMSA certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in residential estates, high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of: Power distribution (LV & MV), Lighting systems, Generators & ATS, Solar/Inverter systems, Fire Alarm, CCTV & Access Control (basic).
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Dialux, MS Office, and electrical design software.
- Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and BOQ.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must be based in Abuja or willing to relocate immediately.
