About the Role As an Electrical Engineer (Substations) at DEPCOM Power (a Koch Engineered Solutions company), you will support the engineering design and development of substation physical layout and design packages for utility-scale Solar and Energy Storage projects. This role focuses on physical substation engineering and contributes to DEPCOM's in-house engineering model by delivering constructible designs from Bedminster, NJ. What You'll Do
- Develop physical layout drawings (plan, elevation, section, detail views) for high-voltage substations.
- Assist in designing protection schemes (line, transformer, bus, breaker failure, overcurrent).
- Perform calculations: ac/dc sizing, bus/cable ampacity, ground grid sizing, lightning protection layout, lighting, conduit/cable fill, conductor tensioning/sag, clearance studies, harmonic resonance analysis, insulation coordination, transient overvoltage studies, and EMT studies.
- Develop one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay logic.
- Specify and program protection relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB) in coordination with system studies.
- Produce 30%-to-IFC drawing packages; ensure compliance with internal standards, NEC, NESC, IEEE, and interconnection requirements.
- Develop standard templates, libraries, and specification documents to streamline workflows.
- Support procurement with technical equipment specifications for transformers, breakers, and steel structures.
- Provide technical support to construction teams; respond to RFIs and field issues; participate in FATs and field commissioning support as needed. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Ability to travel up to 15% for site visits, design reviews, or FATs.
