About this role

Electrical Engineer – Sperton Global AS

On this site, we describe an actual job opening at a company role someone can apply for.

Role Overview

The Electrical Engineer will support electrical engineering activities across procurement, system design, technical documentation, installation planning, and project execution. The role involves close collaboration with suppliers, engineering disciplines, project management, and site personnel to ensure electrical systems and installations meet project requirements, quality standards, and HSSE expectations.

This position requires a practical understanding of electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly offshore EIT (Electrical, Instrumentation, and Telecommunications) installations, low-voltage systems, electrical calculations, and supplier coordination.

The successful candidate will be comfortable reviewing technical drawings, preparing engineering documentation, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting site activities.

The position is onshore-based, with a preference for candidates located at Kollsnes in Øygarden. Candidates based in Bergen may also be considered, provided they are comfortable with regular travel to the project site. This is not a rotational position.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up electrical procurement packages, ensuring technical requirements, documentation, and project deliverables are properly addressed.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and review technical documents, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare and provide electrical engineering input to installation and execution job packages.
  • Maintain and update as-built documentation, including supplier drawings, equipment tags, and red-line markups received from offshore.
  • Take responsibility for electrical system engineering related to low-voltage (LV) consumers and switchboards.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations, including short-circuit calculations, cable dimensioning, and other relevant technical assessments.
  • Support electrical installation planning, engineering design reviews, and technical problem-solving activities.
  • Participate in offshore surveys and site-related engineering activities when required.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary engineering activities involving field instrumentation, automation and control systems, Fire & Gas systems, and electrical layouts, as applicable.
  • Support technical procurement activities, including material take-offs (MTOs), requisitions, and technical documentation for relevant equipment packages.
  • Prepare installation job cards and provide engineering input to other disciplines.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with suppliers, clients, and internal engineering teams to ensure effective project execution.
  • Perform estimation work and plan engineering activities in accordance with project schedules and requirements.
  • Identify engineering changes and provide the necessary technical input for change requests.
  • Report significant technical, quality, schedule, and execution matters to the Discipline Lead and Engineering Manager.
  • Maintain responsibility for quality, health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) requirements within assigned engineering activities.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable project specifications, procedures, and technical requirements.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Relevant technical education, such as vocational school, Bachelor's degree (BSc), Master's degree (MSc), and/or a relevant trade certificate, combined with applicable professional experience.
  • Good knowledge of offshore EIT installations and associated technical requirements.
  • Experience with electrical system engineering, particularly low-voltage consumers, switchboards, and electrical installations.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering calculations, including short-circuit calculations and cable dimensioning.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier coordination, technical follow-up, and engineering document reviews.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining as-built drawings, equipment tags, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary engineering activities involving instrumentation, automation, control systems, and Fire & Gas systems is advantageous.
  • Experience supporting technical procurement, material take-offs, requisitions, and installation documentation is beneficial.
  • Ability to estimate engineering work, plan activities, and manage assigned deliverables.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and teamwork skills.
