Job title: Electrical Electromechanical Technician 2nd Shift
About the Role Join L.L.Bean's Maintenance team in Freeport, ME as a second-shift Electro-Mechanical Technician. This senior-level role performs advanced electronic and automated maintenance, with expertise in fluid power, pneumatics, electrical systems up to 480 volts AC. You’ll serve as a safety and automation resource across the organization, guiding operation and repair to ensure safe and efficient equipment performance.
What You'll Do
- Provide second-level support for complex mechanical automation problems; coordinate with other teams to ensure smooth shift transfers.
- Perform preventative maintenance on complex industrial equipment as scheduled.
- Troubleshoot and repair automated production systems, including HMI, VFD, IO parameter settings.
- Install, maintain, and support Kuka robot systems and other automated equipment (pneumatic, cutting, packaging, sorting; high-speed sewing; injection molding; carton/product transport).
- Follow universal waste procedures and maintain documentation of installations.
- Act as internal resource for projects/maintenance; may act as project lead.
- Oversee automated equipment contractors and vendors; collaborate with internal clients on technology requirements.
- Mentor and support technicians; share expertise to build team capability.
- Identify hazardous conditions and abate them; communicate issues to coworkers and leadership.
- Provide coverage during off-shift times and support 24/7 operations; perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- This position is safety-sensitive; employees must not work under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
What We're Looking For
- 5-7 years of industrial equipment maintenance experience.
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to create and maintain accurate documentation.
- Knowledge and experience with NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex controls including HMI, IO, and VFD parameter adjustments.
- Experience supporting 24-hour emergency response.
- Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
- Ability to collaborate at multiple levels internally and externally.
- Self-motivated, independent worker; able to guide other technicians.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Ability to operate and work in boom trucks, scissor lifts, personnel lifts, and other aerial lifts above 14 feet.
- Proficiency with Microsoft O365, CMMS, Infolink, GPS monitoring, and I-Boss battery management systems.
- Willingness to respond outside normal hours for 24/7 support.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Kuka robot systems.
- Experience with injection molding and carton/product transport systems; packaging, cutting, sorting equipment.
- Prior exposure to high-speed sewing equipment.
