Electrical Designer

• Position Summary

Hays Electrical Services is seeking an Electrical Designer to join our growing Engineering Department. This position will support the development of electrical designs, drawings, and construction documents for commercial and industrial projects. The Electrical Designer will work closely with lead electrical designers, engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure accurate, coordinated, and timely project deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead electrical designers in producing comprehensive electrical drawings, schematics, details, schedules, and specifications using Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.

• Collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, structural teams, and project managers to integrate electrical layouts into building information models (BIM) and construction plans.

• Translate schematic concepts into accurate design development documents, detailed floor plans, equipment layouts, wiring diagrams, panel schedules, and final construction packages.

• Assist in performing electrical calculations, including load calculations, voltage drop, and lighting analyses, while applying National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, and local building codes.

• Work closely with estimating teams during bid and preconstruction phases to ensure electrical design concepts align with target budgets and constructability goals.

• Maintain and update project models based on field redlines to produce accurate final as-built drawings and documentation.

• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

• At least 2 years of electrical design experience.

• At least 2 years of experience using Revit and AutoCAD.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and electrical design principles.

• Experience using Bluebeam.

• Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and electrical construction documents.

• Experience supporting electrical estimating and preconstruction activities.
