Position can be filled as Electric Locator I or Electric Locator II depending on qualifications and experience

Electric Locator I SUMMARY: Entry-level position responsible for locating a single utility under supervision. Requires physical stamina and basic technical skills to support utility protection efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Be a safety champion; obey all safe work procedures, perform daily Hazard Assessments, maintain vehicle inspections, attend all required safety meetings, complete all safety mandated training and report any safety events including near misses. Capable of completing assigned single locating ticket Load with supervision. Capable of closing out locate tickets on a tablet or computer Can accurately locate, paint and flag one utility. Able to read all maps and/or prints for one utility. Inspect and report defective pedestals, meters, transformers etc. Controls and safeguards keys assigned to them for use on customer’s property. Detect and report suspected tampering with pedestals and equipment. Record all completed tickets (work), utilizing proper codes. Record/document inconsistencies in locating area. Must have basic computer skills. Other duties as needed.

Electric Locator II SUMMARY Perform work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to locate and protect the utility from being damaged.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ability to perform all duties of Locator I and help when needed. Be a safety champion, setting examples for others to follow. Obey all safe work procedures, perform daily Hazard Assessments, maintain vehicle inspections, attend all required safety meetings, complete all safety mandated training and report any safety events including near misses. Capable of completing a locate request for multiple utilities without supervision. Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle. Capable of closing out locate tickets on a tablet or computer Ability to accurately read all maps and/or prints for multiple utilities. Has the capacity to locate, paint and flag at least two or more utilities. Capable of precise locate with multiple machines. Able to assist Level 1 Technician with their assigned duties. Capable of completing hourly and weekly tickets assigned. Inspect and report defective pedestals, meters, transformers etc. Control and safeguard keys assigned to them for use on customer or consumer property. Detect and report suspected tampering with pedestals and equipment. Record all completed tickets (work), utilizing proper codes. Record/document inconsistencies in locating area. Must have basic computer skills. Other duties as needed.
