We are seeking an EHS Project Engineer to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs across our manufacturing, field, and project-based operations. This role will partner closely with project site leadership, project teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify risk, strengthen compliance, and promote a proactive safety culture.

The EHS Project Engineer will contribute to both facility-based EHS programs and dynamic operational environments, including construction, installation, commissioning, startup, and other field activities as needed. This individual will play a key role in developing practical, business-aligned EHS solutions that support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and the safe execution of work across a variety of environments.

This role will be based at our Devens, MA facility and will work across a combination of office, manufacturing, and field/project environments. Responsibilities will require routine presence on active production floors, construction areas, equipment installation sites, and other operational settings. Appropriate PPE and adherence to site-specific safety requirements will be required. The position also requires 50–75% travel to project sites and other company locations based on business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs, policies, procedures, and standards across facility and project operations
  • Work directly with project site EHS teams to ensure alignment and continuity with corporate EHS procedures and requirements
  • Serve as the process owner and Subject Matter Expert for the corporate Permit-to-Work program covering highly hazardous activities at project sites, operating plants, and test stands
  • Partner with manufacturing, facilities, engineering, construction, commissioning, and other operational teams to integrate EHS information into day-to-day activities and project execution
  • Provide EHS support for manufacturing operations, equipment installation, contractor work, construction activities, startup, commissioning, and other field execution activities
  • Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses, field observations, and routine inspections to identify hazards and drive timely corrective actions
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts, including interpretation and application of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action follow-up
  • Develop and deliver EHS training and awareness programs for employees, contractors, and site personnel
  • Participate in contractor safety management activities, including pre-job planning, oversight of high-risk work, and verification of compliance with company requirements
  • Support emergency preparedness and response planning, drills, and related readiness activities
  • Track, analyze, and report EHS metrics, trends, and action items to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Support the management of permits, safe work practices, and operational controls associated with routine and non-routine work
  • Build strong working relationships across functions to promote accountability, employee engagement, and a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
  • Travel to company locations, project sites, and field activities as required, with travel expected to range from 50–75%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related technical field

  • 7+ years of relevant EHS experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, field, project, or similar operational environments

  • Working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations and management practices, including OSHA and other relevant regulatory requirements

  • Hands-on experience administering and/or managing Lockout/Tagout programs, with the ability to understand and work through complex energy isolation procedures

  • Experience supporting risk assessments, incident investigations, inspections, corrective actions, and EHS program implementation

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across a variety of teams and operational environments

  • Ability to influence safe behaviors and drive practical solutions in both structured and fast-paced environments

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent activities and locations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard EHS documentation and reporting tools

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50–75% based on business and project needs

  • Preferred Qualifications

  • EHS experience supporting manufacturing operations, construction activities, and/or plant operations

  • Experience working with contractors, capital projects, equipment installation, commissioning, or startup activities

  • Familiarity with high-risk work controls, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, hot work, confined space, fall protection, crane and rigging activities, and permit-required work

  • Experience working in a fast-growing industrial, technology, energy, or advanced manufacturing environment

  • Familiarity with ISO management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001

  • Professional certification such as CHMM, ASP, CSP, CIH, PE, or a similar credential

  • $126,150—$147,900 USD

  • Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.
