About the Role The EH&S Manager oversees plant-wide environmental, health & safety performance, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA and other regulations. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager with matrix reporting to the Sr. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager - N.A. The Plant Manager or Sr. Regulatory Compliance and Safety Manager - N.A. fulfills the personal safety duties of this role in case of a vacancy. The EHS Technician reports to the EHS Manager.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and oversee environmental, health & safety policies, procedures, training programs, testing and other assessment programs.
- Ensure the environmental, health & safety program is organized, documented and complies with OSHA, EPA and other local, state and federal regulations.
- Survey, compile, and analyze data relating to occupational and environmental health issues.
- Respond to State environmental agency inquiries about hazardous waste materials and environmental conditions at the Northlake site.
- Ensure that all injuries and illnesses are thoroughly investigated, properly reported, and related documents are ready for possible litigation.
- Obtain or assist in obtaining environmental permits or other government regulatory approvals or licenses.
- Ensure compliance to environmental, health & safety training regulations.
- Continuously improve the facility environmental, health & safety program, culture and incident rate.
- Assist other Scholle facilities with environmental, health & safety issues, as needed.
- Build trust and rapport with site personnel and provide high level of service to stakeholders.
- Assemble and lead safety committee and/or safety planning committees.
- Be an advocate and contributor to a culture of safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in Occupational Safety & Health or Environmental Engineering or related field.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Presentation skills to enable effective training and communication to all levels at site.
- Proven work experience leading teams to execute improvement projects.
- Previous experience training and developing training programs.
- Problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in navigating OSHA, EPA, and other key regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of ISO45001 and OSHA VPP preferred.
