Job title: EHR Integration Engineer
About the Role Light-it is seeking an EHR Integration Engineer to help scale our EHR Bridge framework, an internal platform for building EHR integrations. You will configure pre-built connectors, authentication flows, and data mappings across EHRs and own the resulting integration codebase.
What You'll Do
- Build, configure, and maintain connectors and data mappings on EHR Bridge for common EHRs (Canvas, Medplum, Epic, Healthie, eClinicalWorks) and beyond.
- Normalize data across EHR platforms into a unified, typed model and implement translation layers.
- Implement and troubleshoot auth flows (SMART on FHIR, OAuth) and handle EHR quirks (FHIR R4, HL7 v2, custom webhooks).
- Ensure HIPAA-safe design with PHI handling, audit logging, encryption in transit and at rest.
- Own the connector codebase after engagements end; no iPaaS subscription or vendor lock-in.
- Tackle real production edge cases: auth failures, schema drift, rate limits, version changes; work across production deployments.
- Collaborate with product teams to map clinical workflows to product features and data models.
What We're Looking For
- Deep EHR integration experience and familiarity with FHIR R4, HL7 v2, and custom EHR APIs.
- Proven ability to normalize data across EHRs and build a translation layer that supports multiple systems.
- Strong understanding of OAuth, SMART on FHIR, and secure handling of PHI.
- Experience shipping production-ready connectors and being comfortable owning substantial codebases.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and adapt to different EHR quirks.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Canvas, Medplum, Epic, Healthie, eClinicalWorks or other major EHRs.
- Open-source FHIR platforms and experiences with API-first design.
- Background in telehealth, behavioral health, primary care, or chronic care management.
