About the Role Join light-it as an EHR Data Migration Specialist focused on helping healthcare organizations move patient data between EHR platforms while preserving clinical meaning, referential integrity, and compliance. You will drive discovery, mapping, transformation, validation, and post-migration stabilization to ensure accurate data and reliable downstream operations.

What You'll Do

• Conduct discovery and data assessment of source EHR data models, export capabilities, constraints, and dependencies; identify gaps and map interconnected systems.
• Define explicit mappings between source and target systems, including transformations to preserve clinical meaning; align data to FHIR resources when applicable.
• Build and implement data quality and validation frameworks to ensure completeness, consistency, and referential integrity; include record counts, field-level checks, cross-entity validation, reconciliation against metrics, automated test suites, and MPI cleanup.
• Develop secure migration and integration pipelines with auditable logs, supported by phased, big-bang, or incremental approaches; ensure patient demographics are migrated first; decommission temporary cloud infrastructure after completion.
• Perform post-migration verification and support, monitor data accuracy in production, remediate edge cases, and document the migration for audit and compliance purposes.
• Ensure PHI/PII is handled with least-privilege access and encryption at rest and in transit; maintain full data lineage from source to target for every record; ensure HIPAA alignment and comprehensive audit logs.
• Collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to validate outcomes and ensure ongoing reliability.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience delivering EHR data migrations, including discovery, mapping, transformation, validation, and post-migration support.
• Strong knowledge of interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, CCD) and ability to align real-world data with resources; experience building custom connectors.
• Experience with major EHR platforms and adjacent systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athena, eClinicalWorks, PointClickCare, Healthie, Canvas, Medlum, Candid Health.
• Familiarity with data security and privacy requirements (PHI/PII handling, least-privilege access, encryption, HIPAA alignment, BAA compliance).
• Ability to design and implement data quality rules, automated tests, and validation dashboards; excellent documentation and stakeholder sign-off.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to collaborate with clinical and operational teams across discovery, mapping, validation, and go-live.
