This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher/trainer, looking for something a little different; showcasing Milton Keynes Energy from Waste facility, using your teaching and learning skills to help people understand the journey of waste and the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling and recovering resources.

Salary: £32,937 - £38,636

Benefits: Life assurance x 3, 10% Annual Bonus, 25 days Annual Leave plus Holiday buyback scheme, Sick Pay, Pension Employer Contribution 5%

Location: Dickens Road, Wolverton, MILTON KEYNES, MK12 5QF

Hours: Starting from January 4th 2027: 37.5 Hours (Full time), Part-time options available/Term time only options available

About the role

What will I be doing?

As Community Liaison Manager, you’ll be the face of the Energy from Waste facility, building strong relationships across the community and helping raise awareness of how waste can be transformed into a valuable resource. You’ll also support people in understanding the range of careers available within the environmental and sustainability sectors.

• Deliver engaging presentations, workshops and educational activities for schools, community groups and local organisations.
• Manage and promote the visitor centre, coordinate site tours and support recycling, waste minimisation and sustainability campaigns.
• Build positive relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, community organisations, businesses and residents.
• Create clear and engaging content for newsletters, educational materials, web updates, public communications and community initiatives.
• Support internal communications and employee engagement activities, helping colleagues stay informed, connected and involved.
• Working closely with the Corporate Affairs Manager, Site Manager and local authority partners, you’ll play a key role in strengthening community understanding of sustainability, resource recovery and environmental responsibility.

What are the requirements?

This role will particularly appeal to candidates from an education/training or Teaching background with experience or an interest in sustainability, environmental education, communications, public engagement, community outreach or corporate social responsibility.

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience in education, training, community engagement, communications, sustainability or a related field. A teaching or education-related qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage a wide range of audiences, from school pupils to industry professionals.
• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content including newsletters, educational resources, press releases and digital updates.
• Ability to engage and managed large groups of children, with interesting, and engaging lesson plans.
• The ability to develop ideas, manage projects and deliver initiatives from concept through to completion.
• An interest in environmental services, recycling, sustainability and helping communities understand the benefits of a circular economy. Media experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
