Job title: EEG Tech
About the Role The EEG Tech performs electroencephalography studies across patient populations and collaborates with physicians, nursing, and other departments as part of the health care delivery team. The role participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities to support patient care in the Neurology department.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and reports suspected violations.
- Performs EEG, 24-hour Ambulatory EEG testing timely and accurately according to policy and procedure.
- Documents and processes procedures timely and accurately according to policy and procedure.
- Performs Evoked Potential testing timely and accurately according to policy and procedure.
- Completes paperwork, cleans electrodes and maintains a clean work area timely and accurately according to policy and procedure.
- Ensures patients are comfortable and assists patients as needed.
- Assists the department during downtime by answering phones, photocopying records, faxing, and distributing correspondence.
- Assists physicians with transport of patients willingly and without prompting.
- Participates in activities that lead to professional and department growth.
- Able to appropriately prepare the patient’s room and equipment for the electroencephalography study.
- Able to prepare the patient for electroencephalography study.
- Maintains a clean work area.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Required: On-the-job trainee with two years of experience. Preferred: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or graduate from an accredited JCRTE program for Electroencephalographic Technologist or graduate from an AMA or JCRTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
- Licensure/Certification: Required: American Heart Association BLS.
- Experience: Required: On-the-job training candidates with two years' experience in a Sleep Disorders Center. Preferred: Hospital experience post-graduation from an accredited JCRTE program for Electroencephalographic Technologist or AMA/JCRTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
- Skills: Proficient in EEG; Proficient in Evoked Potential (AVR, VER, SSER).
- Other: Able to stand, walk and sit four hours at a time; Average vision and hearing; Good phone skills and etiquette.
Nice to Have
- Hospital experience post-graduation from an accredited JCRTE program for Electroencephalographic Technologist or AMA/JCRTE approved program for Respiratory Therapy.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $27.00 per hour (Per Diem, Part-time).
