About the Role
HCOS is seeking a dynamic
Education
- Assistant to support a Grade 2 student in the family home for the 2026-27 school year. This 30-hour per week contract role involves providing program support, behaviour and academic interventions, and encouragement within the HCOS Inclusive
Education
- Department, with possible hours growth based on student needs and EA skills. The role is onsite in Chilliwack, BC and requires comfort working closely with a family and supporting a student with complex learning and physical needs.
What You'll Do

Support the social, spiritual, physical and learning needs of the student, providing mentorship to the whole person.

Participate in weekly therapy sessions (including PT) and complete assigned daily exercises as directed.

Assist with mobility equipment and physical positioning support.

Support the student in the community, including outings, appointments, and recreational activities (e.g., swimming).

Patiently repeating daily routines and skill-building activities over long periods with minimal immediate progress.

Collaborate with the Case Manager and the parent to support personalized learning opportunities.

Assist in carrying out IEP goals, working alongside the broader student support team.

What We're Looking For
-
Background working in Education, EA Support, Behaviour Intervention, or with children/youth.

Professionals with non-EA specific credentials are encouraged to apply (e.g., psychology, behaviour analysis, social work, nursing).

A valid Certified Educational Assistant certificate (or training in process) is considered an asset.

Physically able to assist with student mobility, positioning, and use of mobility equipment.

Technologically proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.

A valid Class 5 driving license, and openness to driving to community outings and therapy appointments scheduled during service hours.

Willingness to learn hand-under-hand ASL and communication strategies.

Willingness to participate in training such as the POP-DB Deafblind Intervention Program.

Willingness to learn and take direction (ongoing training and support).

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive wage: $23.97 – $28.13 per hour, depending on certification and experience.
