Job title: Edt Operator
About the Role Under the direction of the EDT Supervisor/Shop Foreman, the EDT Operator is responsible for inspecting and preparing rolls for texture and operating the Electronic Discharge Texturing (EDT) machines to apply texture to rolls. The role also includes routine maintenance of EDT equipment to ensure reliable performance.
What You'll Do
- Inspect and prepare rolls for texture, including cleaning for chatter, traverse lines, wheel pattern, rust, and blemishes.
- Prep rolls for EDT by stripping old caulk and re-caulking rolls to be chrome plated after EDT.
- Set up the EDT machine for the roll type, select the appropriate program, and adjust as needed.
- Monitor operating parameters during the texturing process.
- Understand the EDT dielectric system and the required maintenance.
- Perform routine daily maintenance on the EDT machine (changing electrodes, building/changing the baths, spray down heads, cleaning filters).
- Inspect roll surface finish using a profilometer after EDT.
- Understand roll shop definitions and defects (traverse, pattern, open surface, porosity).
- Complete required paperwork and reporting per customer or management requests.
- Maintain a basic understanding of proper use, maintenance, and storage of hand tools.
What We're Looking For
- A basic understanding of electricity and electronics, and experience interfacing with computers.
- Mechanical aptitude; ability to work with hand and small hand tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Overhead crane training, hazardous communication training, forklift training, confined space training, ISO 9001:2008 experience (as applicable).
