About this role

About the Role Wiley is seeking an Editor-in-Chief, Education for its social science and humanities portfolio to drive strategic development, elevate journal visibility, and lead editorial processes while upholding ethical publishing standards.

What You'll Do

  • Use your background in educational research, knowledge of the publishing landscape, and strong communication and global networking skills to drive the strategic development of one or more journals within the Education portfolio.
  • Strategically develop journals from scientific and publishing perspectives within the context of the broader Education portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain a global network of researchers, practitioners, authors, peer reviewers and board members; represent Wiley at conferences and through outreach activities at universities and research institutes.
  • Oversee editorial evaluation, peer review, and decision making for submitted manuscripts; ensure adoption of best practices and highest ethical standards in publishing.
  • Collaborate with your manager and colleagues to cultivate a team culture of trust, respect and high performance.

What We're Looking For

  • A PhD in educational research with a strong research background and understanding of trends across educational contexts.
  • Manuscript handling experience (pre-screening, peer review, final decision, appeals and integrity cases).
  • Demonstrated commissioning experience including identifying priority topics, approaching prospective authors, agreeing outlines/timelines, and guiding authors through submission.
  • Strong global networks within research communities; excellent communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence outcomes; flexible and innovative approach to problems; excellent organizational and time management skills; strong English (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of scientific publishing and a passion for innovations in publishing and open research; confidence to present at international conferences and visits; nurturing existing contacts and building new networks.
