Job title: ED Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
About the Role The ED Registered Nurse provides patient care in the Emergency Department in accordance with the RN scope of practice under the Oregon State Board of Nursing. The role involves applying the nursing process, teaching patients and families, documenting care, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
What You'll Do
- Within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, apply the nursing process to the care of patients.
- Teach patients and significant others.
- Document patient care in the medical record.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to effectively coordinate overall care of the patient.
- Respond effectively to patient crisis/emergency situations.
- Maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location.
- Proficient in use of computer systems, including accessing internet, word processing, and documenting in an electronic medical record system.
What We're Looking For
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon (RN) and valid Oregon RN license.
- Recent emergency nurse experience; acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years.
- Education/ Certifications/Licenses: ACLS within 6 months of hire; PALS or ENPC within 1 year; TNCC within 1 year; CEN or equivalent preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers; and Oregon-specific requirements as applicable.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English; strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; effective teaching skills; ability to respond to emergencies; and computer literacy for EMR/documentation.
Nice to Have
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) certification (initial or within 1 year of hire).
- National certification in emergency nursing (CEN or equivalent) preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $47.82 - $71.26 per hour USD.
