Job title: Economist / Data Scientist

About the Role This position focuses on developing and applying complex economic and financial models for clients across public and private sector projects. You will leverage software such as Stata, SAS, Python, SQL, or R to perform financial, statistical, and econometric analyses on regulatory and policy issues, and translate findings into clear client-ready reports and presentations.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and apply complex economic and financial models for clients across projects using software such as Stata, SAS, Python, SQL, or R.
  • Perform financial, statistical, and econometric analysis on regulatory and policy issues for a range of clients including US Federal agencies, state agencies, and multinational financial institutions.
  • Develop mathematical and computational models and apply machine learning methods to predict the impact of policy changes or business decisions or to predict potential risks or fraud.
  • Manipulate large data sets to support validation of financial analyses (e.g., Comprehensive Capital and Analysis Review (CCAR) using the Dodd-Frank Act stress tests (DFAST)).
  • Craft technical and non-technical memoranda and reports on analyses; translate analyses into professional reports and presentations accessible to non-specialists.
  • Pursue business development opportunities; lead and write proposals; establish and maintain client relationships and professional networks.
  • Organize large project teams in scoping and executing projects.
  • Travel to various locations throughout the U.S. up to 10% is required.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of economic, financial, and statistical modeling with proficiency in Stata, SAS, Python, SQL, and R.
  • Experience with regulatory issues and policy analysis, including CCAR, DFAST, and Dodd-Frank Act frameworks.
  • Expertise in time series, panel data, multinomial logit, vector autoregression, and error correction models; ability to translate analyses into accessible reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, contribute to business development, and lead project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience applying machine learning methods to policy or business decision impacts.
  • Experience with large-scale data manipulation and visualization; public sector or regulatory analytics experience.

Compensation & Benefits
