Early Childhood Teacher

About the Role The University of Utah's Student Parent Support Center is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to support on-campus childcare programs serving children birth to six years old. This full-time role supports students, faculty, staff, and patients, with on-campus programs across multiple sites, including UKids locations and U Health Center programs. The role emphasizes play-based learning, alignment with licensing and NAEYC standards, and leading a classroom team to foster development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. What You'll Do

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Creative Curriculum Developmental Objectives, developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), and play-based learning for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
• Align with State of Utah Child Care Licensing Regulations and NAEYC Standards; model teaching techniques for teaching assistants; promote leadership within the classroom team; oversee assistants to maintain appropriate practices.
• Accept, guide, and supervise daily routines: engaging with children at their eye level, maintaining ratios, assisting with toileting/diapering, feeding, potty training (as directed by lead teacher), handwashing, and cleaning the classroom.
• Manage safe transitions between indoor and outdoor play; actively supervise children outdoors year-round; support children with physical needs and life skills to foster development.
• Plan and provide daily experiences and activities that stimulate development and support positive guidance techniques to minimize inappropriate behaviors.
• Foster professional relationships with parents, guardians, and staff; communicate concerns, provide solutions, and collaborate to support each child’s growth.
• Maintain accurate records for licensing and NAEYC compliance; participate in required professional development (minimum 20 hours annually) related to early childhood education, licensing rules, and best practices.
• Contribute to a cheerful, collaborative, and aesthetically pleasing childcare environment that reflects children's interests and safety priorities. What We're Looking For

• Professionalism and strong communication skills to collaborate with parents/guardians and colleagues; reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently while following direction from administration and responding to last-minute changes to ensure child safety and well-being.
• Willingness to learn and apply Utah licensing regulations and NAEYC standards; dedication to ongoing professional development. Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $15.50 - $18.00 per hour.
