Job Title: E-Commerce Buying & Merchandising Manager

We are seeking a commercially driven, highly agile E-Commerce Buying & Merchandising Manager with a strong merchant’s instinct and the ability to react quickly to a fast-moving contemporary market. This individual understands how to translate real-time sales performance, emerging trends and customer demand into smart buying decisions that drive sales, optimize inventory and maximize profitability.

This is a hands-on role for someone who lives and breathes the business daily—knowing what is selling, what is trending, what to chase, what to reorder and when to mark down or exit underperforming product. Balancing fashion intuition with strong analytical and financial acumen, the ideal candidate will own the day-to-day buying, merchandising, inventory management and profitability of the e-commerce business.

Working closely with E-Commerce Operations and company leadership, this individual will take ownership of the numbers while remaining nimble and entrepreneurial, making timely, data-driven decisions to capitalize on opportunities, respond to changing demand and keep the business moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own E-Commerce Buying & Merchandising: Drive the day-to-day buying and merchandising strategy, ensuring the right product, quantities and inventory are in place to maximize sales and profitability.

  • React to a Fast-Moving Market: Monitor daily sales, emerging trends, customer demand and product performance to quickly identify opportunities, chase winners and adjust buying decisions as the business evolves.

  • Manage Reorders & Replenishment: Identify bestsellers early, make timely reorder decisions and manage inventory flow to capitalize on demand while minimizing missed sales opportunities.

  • Drive Inventory Productivity: Maintain a close pulse on inventory by style, category and overall business, understanding what is selling, what is sitting, what is arriving and where inventory needs to move.

  • Own Sales & Profitability: Monitor sales, sell-through, gross margin, weeks of supply, inventory turnover and markdowns, using retail math to drive commercially sound decisions.

  • Manage Markdown Strategy: Identify underperforming product and determine when and how to adjust pricing to improve sell-through, protect margins and minimize excess inventory.

  • Oversee Buying Plans & Open-to-Buy: Manage budgets, inventory commitments, open-to-buy and forecasts, balancing growth opportunities with inventory risk and cash flow.

  • Monitor Deliveries & Receipts: Track incoming product and delivery timing, ensuring inventory availability aligns with sales demand and business priorities.

  • Analyze Product Performance: Evaluate individual styles, categories and broader business trends to identify winners, underperformers, margin opportunities and areas for growth.

  • Partner with E-Commerce Operations: Collaborate closely to ensure product availability, inventory accuracy and timely execution of buying, replenishment and merchandising decisions across the online business.

  • Build Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain clear, actionable reporting on sales, inventory, margins and profitability to support timely decision-making.

  • Continuously Optimize the Business: Identify opportunities to accelerate sales, improve inventory productivity, increase gross margin and maximize overall profitability.

  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in e-commerce buying, merchandising, planning or a related retail role, ideally within contemporary fashion or another fast-moving, trend-driven business.

  • A true merchant at heart, with strong product instincts and the ability to recognize emerging winners and respond quickly to changing sales trends.

  • Highly agile and commercially minded, comfortable making fast, informed decisions based on real-time business performance.

  • Strong understanding of buying, reorders, replenishment, inventory management, sell-through, markdowns, margins and profitability.

  • Excellent command of retail math, spreadsheets, reporting, forecasting and financial analysis.

  • Ability to balance fashion intuition with data, translating sales and inventory information into immediate, actionable buying decisions.

  • Exceptionally hands-on and detail-oriented, with a constant pulse on what is selling, what needs to be reordered, what is arriving, what needs to be marked down and where the business is making or losing money.

  • Strong ownership mentality, with the confidence to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities and take responsibility for results.

  • Comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where priorities shift quickly and decisions have an immediate impact on the business.

  • Collaborative communicator who can work effectively with E-Commerce Operations and leadership while independently managing the day-to-day business.

  • Salary $200,000-$225,000 + bonus 2x a year
