About the Role Xylem in Edison, NJ is seeking an experienced Driver Technician who combines a strong CDL A driving background with mechanical expertise to safely transport specialty water treatment products and support delivery operations. This role offers regional routes, predictable home daily, and a path to grow within the driver pipeline at a leading water technology company. The position is based in Edison, with home base in Edison, and routes within approximately 150 air miles of Edison, with no overnight travel.
What You'll Do
- Safely drive vehicles including F-150 pickups, rollbacks, and 48'/53' tractor trailers to transport specialty water treatment products
- Use forklifts for loading and unloading at the warehouse and delivery sites
- Assist with equipment setups and loading/unloading pumps, pipes, and related materials
- Perform basic mechanical checks and minor repairs as needed
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and order documentation
- Communicate clearly with internal teams and coordinate deliveries
What We're Looking For
- Valid CDL A and clean driving record
- 2+ years of professional driving experience (regional/local/OTR)
- Physically capable of heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing in/out of cabs and trailers
- Commitment to safety and compliance with DOT/state/federal regulations
- Preferred: diesel mechanic or strong mechanical aptitude/experience; basic maintenance experience on commercial vehicles and equipment; forklift experience; comfort with physical tasks
- Flexible, team-oriented attitude and good communication
Nice to Have
- Diesel mechanic background or mechanical aptitude; mechanics with a CDL encouraged to apply
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $28-$31 per hour, depending on experience and location; overtime available (10–15 hours/week typical)
