Job Title: Drilling Technician

Locations: Delta, Lagos, and Rivers

Responsibilities

• Technical Procedures & Operations.
• Support active rig-site operations by executing technical data collection, tool preparation, and downhole fluid/mud property monitoring.
• Assist well engineers in coordinating programs for drilling, completions, workovers, wireline logging and sidetracks.
• Perform advanced mathematical calculations for cement designs, hydraulics, structural load parameters, and daily performance metrics.
• Ensure rig equipment and third-party tools are organized, calibrated, and deployed in accordance with the drilling program.
• Coordinate implementation and management of operations activities, ensuring full integration with the WE/CWI Operations team and other relevant asset teams.
• Coordinate, operate, and implement well programs (completion, workover, slickline, wellhead, coiled tubing, E-line, fishing, etc.) and End of Well Reports prepared by Completions/WO Engineers.
• Demonstrate safety leadership. Ensure that Well Completion, Re-completion, Workover, Plug and Abandonment programs are implemented in compliance with Company’s EHS policies and regulations, and that contractors are supervised and motivated to perform jobs with high technical and EHS standards.
• Review work performance of the WO Rig and other service contractors. Inform the Workover Manager in time about contractors whose performance does not fulfill contractual obligations. • Manage and maintain well integrity for the asset by planning and execution.
• Check and verify that all field service tickets issued for services provided by third-party service companies are accurately recorded, verifying compliance with contract terms.
• Participate in compiling the well risk register and well barrier review.
• Coordinate and verify in advance the availability of all surface and downhole equipment as per the work program (type, specification, quality, quantity) to meet objectives.
• Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot major operational problems, such as fishing, kicks, or serious accidents that may occur during operations.
• Ensure effective EHS compliance and policies of the Company during well engineering planning and execution.
• Mentor and coach junior colleagues in all aspects of well intervention engineering, completion engineering, and operations, and interaction with other asset teams.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher national diploma in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, or a relevant technical discipline with specific technical training in well barrier management. An MSc is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience spanning both office-based engineering and active field supervisory positions.
• A minimum of 5 years dedicated to complex, high-risk drilling environments is preferred.
