Job title: Donation Sorter
About the Role The Donation Sorter at The Caring Place supports gift-in-kind processing and donor engagement in Hollywood, FL. This role reports to the Community Development Manager and helps count inventory, greet donors with tax receipts, and keep donors informed about current campaigns and volunteer opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Greet donors cheerfully and provide tax receipts, while explaining how donations help
- Sort items (bric-a-brac, glassware, clothing, dishes, antiques, small appliances) and enter counts on inventory sheets
- Process Gift-in-kind (GIK) slips and update the database
- Check merchandise for damage, set aside items for special pricing, and maintain a safe, orderly workspace
- Assist with events and campaigns with the Community Development team, including holiday events
- Participate in ministry activities and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience as a merchandise sorter in retail is preferred
- Familiar with current styles, trends and prices
- Read, write, and speak English
- Ability to work in a busy environment and process merchandise quickly and accurately
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds; able to move around sorting area
Nice to Have
- Experience with inventory management and data entry in a nonprofit setting (preferred)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $15-$17 per hour
