POSITION OVERVIEW
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at John Jay College-CUNY seeks an instructor at the rank of Doctoral Lecturer with experience teaching Spanish for heritage learners. The position of Doctoral Lecturer is tenure-bearing through a Certificate of Continuous Employment (CCE) following the sixth annual reappointment. Lecturers become eligible for promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer after eight years of full-time continuous service.
The appointed faculty member will perform teaching and related faculty functions in areas of expertise, share responsibility for departmental and College committee work and other duties as assigned by the chair. Teaching duties include a 4/4 load (eight undergraduate courses per year). Service duties include actively recruiting, advising and mentoring Spanish majors, minors, and Certificate students, among others. Responsibilities will include working collaboratively with colleagues, the department, and the College. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the goals of the college through their leadership, community service, and/or lived experiences.
