About the Role Collaborate on and perform distribution studies including voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments. Analyze and assess complex DER distribution system interconnections and new customer load interconnections at numerous voltage levels. Apply the established distribution criteria and use sound utility engineering practices to identify deficiencies and develop designs and recommendations aligned with program objectives.

What You'll Do

• Conduct distribution studies (voltage, thermal, N-1, and power factor assessments) and evaluate system performance.
• Analyze DER distribution interconnections and new customer load interconnections across multiple voltage levels.
• Apply established distribution criteria to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
• Propose Distribution Automation devices and develop designs that meet program objectives.
• Develop designs for Distribution Resiliency and integrate improvements to increase precision and efficiency of planning.
• Utilize distribution planning tools (GIS ArcFM, SAP, Load Data systems, etc.) and expand subject-matter expertise to mentor and lead the team.
• Collaborate with internal teams and industry peers on regional/divisional activities; assist during storm restoration efforts.
• Liaise with contractors on policy, standards, and best practices.

What We're Looking For

• BSEE required; advanced degrees or certifications (MSEE, PE, etc.) are a plus.
• Ideal candidates will have between 2 and 15 years of professional experience in the industry.
• Knowledge of Power System Studies (comprehensive area studies, power flow, DER, voltage, contingency, phase imbalance, power factor correction, short circuit, reliability, resiliency, capacity, distribution automation).
• Software proficiency in Power System Analytics (CYME, PSSE, ASPEN).
• Ability to mentor, lead, and collaborate across departments; capable of guiding engineers and coordinating with contractors.
• Willingness to work in Rochester, NY and Binghamton, NY in an in-office environment.

Nice to Have

• Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., MSEE, PE) and subject matter expert-level skills.
• Experience leading complex projects with broad organizational impact.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $101,400 – $160,000 per year.
