About the Role Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements, and designing distribution facilities to support customer requests, reliability projects, or infrastructure improvements. This onsite role may be filled at Designer I, II, III, or Sr. depending on qualifications and experience. What You'll Do
- Manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses; meet with customers to determine service needs; design overhead and underground line extensions; estimate costs; prepare construction drawings; and coordinate construction commitments.
- Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform engineering calculations (load studies, revenue justification, fault current, voltage drop) to aid planning and corrective measures.
- Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and ensure contract compliance with distribution design standards and practices.
- Aid local Right of Way agent with acquiring permits and ROW documents.
- Assist with storm restoration efforts as needed, including local and out-of-town damage assessment activities. What We're Looking For
- Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) design experience; ability to apply design standards, calculations, and drawings.
- Education: Bachelor's degree (any discipline) or 2-year Technical Associate's degree, or equivalent experience; or >2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience.
- Ability to progress through Designer I, II, III, and Sr with increasing years of relevant experience (Designer II requires 2+ years design experience; Designer III requires 4 years; Designer Sr requires 6 years) and Department Sr. Manager’s approval in lieu of requirements.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working with customers, internal teams, and ROW/permitting activities.
