Job title: Distinguished Engineer - Digital Design
About the Role Join Marvell's Custom Compute Solutions Business Unit (CCSBU) as we establish our design presence in San Diego's thriving semiconductor ecosystem. This Distinguished Engineer role shapes design strategy from the ground up and leads the creation of a world-class San Diego design organization focused on high-value custom SoCs for AI/XPU programs.
What You'll Do
- Shape the micro-architecture of the chip, write specifications, and define design micro-architecture
- Implement designs using low-power RTL coding techniques
- Collaborate with the verification team on the verification test plan, coverage analysis, and full-chip simulation plus debug
- Write SVA assertions and apply formal verification
- Prepare and present design reviews
- Work with the physical design team to aid the implementation of functional blocks
- Interact with the project manager to scope tasks and provide schedule estimates
- Proactively communicate challenges and provide contingency plans
- Collaborate with multiple design centers to shape future methodology
- Support post-silicon bring-up in the lab and liaise with software teams to ensure customer use cases are met
- Provide expert product support in post-silicon debug environments
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or related fields with 17+ years of experience, or Master's with 12-15+ years, or PhD with 10-12+ years
- Fluent in SystemVerilog RTL coding techniques
- Experience in high-speed, multi-clock-domain designs
- Expertise in PCIe and CXL protocols; familiarity with AXI, DDR, Ethernet
- Experience in micro-architecture of complex custom/ASICs with chip I/O, shared memory, and embedded processors
- RTL design experience: synthesis, static-timing closure, formal verification, gate-level simulations, block-level functional verification
- Experience designing high-speed (>1 GHz) SOCs; timing closure for high-speed designs
- Hands-on chip-development process across front-end tools and methodologies
- Ability to create SVA assertions and apply formal verification concepts and tools
- Strong leadership, communication, and documentation discipline
- Ability to work efficiently across multiple sites and with cross-functional teams
- Enthusiasm for applying new methods/tools to ASIC design
- Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Tcl, UNIX shell)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: USD 212,200 - 314,020 per year
