Job title: Dispatch Manager

About the Role

The Dispatch Manager oversees routing and scheduling of all outbound freight and supervises transportation staff including truck drivers, admin support personnel, and fleet maintenance. You will ensure the daily operation is safe, legal, efficient, and economical, while aligning transportation activities with sales goals and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Manage daily transportation operations for safety, efficiency, legality, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Route and schedule outbound freight; coordinate with sales and branch management; develop transportation budgets and operating plans.

  • Implement and manage branch regulatory compliance program CFR 49; ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, and related requirements.

  • Hire, develop, supervise, promote and terminate personnel within the transportation/dispatch function.

  • Schedule deliveries with Company equipment and set up common carriers; maintain licensing and permits.

  • Answer shipping office phones; back-up shipping/receiving clerks as needed.

  • Train health and safety programs for transportation personnel.

  • Solve customer service problems; support sales efforts and customer delivery requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma (required)

  • 3-5 years of leadership experience in transportation

  • In-depth knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation

  • Strong computer, verbal, and written communications

  • Working knowledge of governmental requirements related to the chemical industry (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT, etc.) or demonstrated ability to attain such knowledge

  • Experience shipping and receiving products using a computer inventory system

  • Some product knowledge, chemical industry background and/or chemistry classes a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills in coaching and team building with all levels of people

  • High level of decision-making ability, balancing customers' needs and company objectives

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle diverse workload

  • Demonstrated supervisory skills

  • Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; additional certifications in logistics or safety would be a plus

  • Compensation & Benefits
