About the Role Des Moines Area Community College maintains a nondiscrimination policy to ensure fair treatment in programs, activities, and employment, and provides a formal complaint process for individuals who believe they have been discriminated against. The policy covers race, color, national origin, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, genetic information (in employment), and actual or potential parental, family or marital status, with veteran status included where allowed by law. ADA questions and concerns are directed to the 504/ADA Coordinator, and questions or complaints about this policy may be directed to the Director of the Office for Civil Rights.
What You'll Do
- Enforce and promote the college's nondiscrimination policy across programs, activities, and employment practices.
- Provide information about the College Discrimination Complaint Procedure and assist individuals in obtaining complaint forms from the designated offices and the HR site.
- Serve as a first point of contact or coordinate with the Section 504/ADA Coordinator for disability-related questions and concerns.
- Refer questions or complaints about the policy to the appropriate offices, including the U.S. Department of Education OCR.

- Understanding of equal opportunity and anti-discrimination laws as they apply to education and employment.
- Ability to guide individuals through the complaint process and accessibility requests in compliance with ADA.
- Familiarity with relevant offices and contacts for complaints and inquiries.
