About the Role
Join Launch Consulting’s Platform Engineering discipline as Director of Platform Engineering to shape and deliver our platform strategy, solution architecture, and advisory services for a diverse client base and internal teams. You will lead the creation of reusable accelerators to enhance data, AI, and software development solutions, leveraging cloud expertise to help clients build modern platforms and accelerate innovation.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow the Platform Engineering discipline, establishing best practices for client advisory, solution architecture, and platform delivery. Mentor a team of consultants and foster a culture of automation and IaC.
- Define technical standards and frameworks balancing innovation, security, developer experience, and cost efficiency for client engagements and internal accelerators.
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for Platform Engineering offerings.
- Lead client engagements to assess current capabilities, define future-state strategies and roadmaps, and design secure, scalable platform solutions on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Advise clients on platform engineering best practices, cloud-native technologies, and modern operating models (SRE, FinOps).
- Guide implementation of CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, observability, and governance for platforms.
- Spearhead the design and development of reusable platform components, blueprints, and accelerators; ensure assets are secure, scalable, and well-documented; drive adoption.
- Lead presales activities including workshops, proposal development, solutioning, and presentations; build relationships with key stakeholders and communicate value to both technical and non-technical audiences. Manage time to ~30% billable utilization.
- Champion DevSecOps, security, and governance; promote SRE practices to achieve high availability and performance.
- Continuously refine Launch’s Platform Engineering methodologies and stay ahead of trends; create opportunities for your team to upskill.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years experience in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure with leadership in technical teams and client-facing consulting.
- Expertise architecting, building, and advising on platform solutions (developer, data, AI) across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Strong proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Crossplane, Pulumi), containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Demonstrable experience developing reusable assets, frameworks, or accelerators for platform engineering.
- Solid understanding of observability, cloud security best practices, FinOps, and optimizing platform services.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and client relationship management; proven presales success.
- Strong business acumen and ability to translate technical solutions into business value.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
