About the Role We are seeking a highly accomplished transit professional with an excellent track record of managing complex transit operations, preferably in a public, university, and/or hospital setting, and with an outstanding customer service record. Excellent communications and presentation skills are critical for this role. The Director of Transit for the Transportation Department oversees a large, multi-functional department through subordinate managers, leads the strategic planning process in alignment with organizational objectives, and establishes and ensures implementation of policies and procedures in support of transit services, fleet management, and compliance & safety. May act as the Executive Director in his/her absence or as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee a large, multi-functional Transit Department through subordinate managers to meet organizational objectives.
  • Lead strategic planning and policy development for transit services, fleet management, and compliance & safety.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the UCSF Transit Division, including twelve shuttle routes in San Francisco; expansion to BCH – Oakland in July with an additional three routes and a connector to San Francisco.
  • Ensure excellent customer service, communications, and presentations to stakeholders; collaborate with campus partners, hospitals, and external entities.
  • Provide leadership coverage as Acting Executive Director when the Director is absent, as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Highly accomplished transit professional with a proven track record of managing complex transit operations.
  • Experience in public, university, and/or hospital settings is preferred.
  • Outstanding customer service history and exceptional communications/presentation skills.
  • Strong strategic planning, policy development, fleet management, and compliance & safety expertise.
  • Ability to lead through subordinate managers and collaborate with diverse stakeholders; willingness to act as Executive Director in the Director's absence.
