About this role

About the Role The Director of Talent will lead Central Synagogue's talent strategy, overseeing leadership development, talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement. Reporting to the Chief of Staff and partnering with HR colleagues, this role acts as a strategic HR business partner across the organization, supporting 135+ full-time staff and a large part-time workforce in creating an inclusive, high-performing workplace. What You'll Do

  • Serve as the organization’s HR business partner and subject matter expert on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, coaching, and professional development across departments and 135+ staff.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to drive engagement, retention, and a positive organizational culture; lead internal communications, training, and leadership development.
  • Lead systems and process improvements, developing policies, trainings, and surveys; leverage technology and analytics to streamline HR service delivery for a growing team.
  • Spearhead strategic HR initiatives including organizational design, performance management, talent acquisition, employee relations, and culture-building; evaluate and streamline the full-cycle recruiting process with tools and templates.
  • Support compensation benchmarking to ensure market competitiveness and pay equity; drive changes and improvements as part of the HR agenda.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Staff, Director of People Operations, and HR Manager to deliver high-impact HR projects and an outstanding employee experience. What We're Looking For
  • An experienced human capital leader with a track record across core HR functions: talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, coaching, and professional development.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders across an organization and act as a proactive, responsive HRBP for multiple departments and staff members (135+).
  • Data-driven mindset with comfort using analytics to inform decisions and drive HR system design and improvements.
  • Strategic thinker able to lead large-scale HR initiatives such as organizational design, performance management, and culture-building; experience implementing compensation benchmarking to maintain competitiveness and equity.
  • Strong communications skills and a collaborative approach to partnering with leaders and staff to elevate the employee experience.
