Director of Retail Solutions

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions - External
Durham, NC Posted Oct 22, 2026
Full-time

About this role

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Director of Retail Solutions, leading the product management organization towards building out ELERA solutions to satisfy our growing market and increasing demand. ELERA serves many of the Top 10 Global Retailers along with hundreds of customers across grocery, hospitality, convenience, and specialty markets worldwide. You will lead the team that decides what that product becomes and makes sure it gets there.

This is a role with real ownership. You will hold the budget and the business outcomes for the retail solutions portfolio, lead an experienced product team through both our standing commitments to the world's largest retailers and our entry into new markets, and own the relationship with our engineering organization that turns product intent into delivered capability. The defining expectation is that decisions end with you. You will be given the context, the authority, and the accountability to close them.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the business outcomes and the budget for the retail solutions portfolio — roadmap commitments, investment decisions, and results — and report against them in business reviews.

  • Prioritize the portfolio backlog across competing demands — platform compliance obligations, active customer rollouts, and strategic roadmap initiatives — and make the call when they cannot all be satisfied.

  • Align scope and sequencing with available capacity, working with stakeholders to set realistic commitments and surface tradeoffs early.

  • Drive entry into new market segments and adjacent verticals, from business case through market release.

  • Own voice of the customer for the portfolio: ensure the roadmap commitments we make to our largest retailers are understood, prioritized, defended, and met.

  • Own the working relationship with our engineering organization — commitments, change control, and release acceptance — partnering closely to keep product intent and delivery plans aligned.

  • Represent the portfolio in release and program planning cycles — readiness, execution, and alignment across product, development, services, and program stakeholders.

  • Represent our retail solutions to customers, partners, and our executive team, and partner across sales, marketing, and services so that what we build reaches the market effectively.

  • Provide day-to-day direction to your team, partnering on key decisions and coaching your product managers as they navigate complex customer and stakeholder conversations.

  • Carry full people leadership for the organization — regular one-on-ones, performance management, hiring, career development, and steady support through difficult situations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated accountability for a software product business — budget, roadmap commitments, and measurable business outcomes you can speak to specifically

  • Experience leading a product management organization through managers, not only as an individual contributor or a single-team lead

  • Experience balancing a product backlog across compliance obligations, customer commitments, and strategic roadmap work, with many concurrent workstreams and dependencies spanning engineering, services, and program teams

  • A track record of owning decisions on scope, priority, and customer commitments, and standing behind them

  • Experience stepping into an existing organization and establishing leadership credibility quickly

  • Experience owning working relationships across partner organizations you depend on but do not manage — engineering, services, and program — including formal commitments and change management

  • Experience building and sustaining executive-level relationships with enterprise customers, including through significant commitments and changing expectations

  • Demonstrated use of AI-accelerated methods in product work, and the initiative to teach yourself new capabilities as that tooling changes and evolves

  • 12+ years of relevant experience, including several years leading product organizations at a manager-of-managers level

  • PREFERRED

  • MBA or equivalent business leadership experience

  • Retail technology, point-of-sale background, and/or enterprise commerce domain experience

  • Experience working in a scaled agile environment with formal program increment or release planning cycles

  • Experience leading product organizations through rapid periods of growth or transformation

  • Experience operating within a defined portfolio governance model including dozens of stakeholders — prioritization rubrics, capacity tradeoffs, communication, and formal change control
