Director of Retail

• CALPAK is seeking an experienced Head of Retail to lead the strategy, performance, and growth of our retail business. Reporting to the Executive Director of DTC, this role will own retail performance and profitability while leading the team and capabilities needed to support the continued growth of the business.

• The ideal candidate is a strategic and commercially minded retail leader with strong business acumen, people leadership, and operational experience. This role will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners to drive revenue, strengthen the customer experience, and evolve CALPAK's retail business for future growth.

Requirements

Key Requirements:

• Retail Strategy & Performance

• Own the overall strategy, performance, and growth of CALPAK's retail business.

• Own retail revenue and P&L performance, establishing clear goals, KPIs, and priorities.

• Analyze business performance and develop strategies to drive traffic, customer acquisition, conversion, AOV, profitability, and overall retail growth.

• Partner cross-functionally to align retail priorities with broader company, brand, and customer initiatives.

• Team & Retail Operations

• Lead and develop the retail organization, with accountability for team performance, people development, succession planning, and overall execution.

• Establish clear goals, expectations, and ways of working that enable retail leaders and teams to operate effectively and grow.

• Ensure strong and consistent execution across store operations, customer experience, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and other core retail functions.

• Assess organizational needs and evolve the team, structure, processes, and capabilities required to support the retail business as it grows.

• Retail Growth & Expansion

• Develop the long-term strategy for CALPAK's retail footprint and future growth.

• Partner with executive leadership and internal and external partners to evaluate and execute future retail opportunities.

• Ensure the organization, capabilities, and resources evolve to support retail growth and future locations.

• Provide any additional support as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, including multi-store responsibility.
• Experience across both established retail environments and smaller or growing businesses preferred.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience owning revenue and P&L performance.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies that drive retail revenue and overall business performance.
• Strong understanding of key retail performance drivers, including traffic, conversion, AOV, labor, inventory, and customer experience.
• Proven people leader with experience developing teams, building leadership capabilities, and driving accountability.
• Experience supporting retail expansion and new store growth.
• Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate insights into action.
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills.
• Experience within DTC, consumer, lifestyle, fashion, accessories, or an adjacent category preferred.
