About the Role LIU seeks a strategic leader to manage all lands, facilities, and real property on the Post and Brooklyn Campuses. The role directs the Physical Plant operations, campus construction, and facilities planning, overseeing the direction, supervision, coordination and accomplishment of work across multiple operational areas, with responsibility for budgeting, space allocation, safety, and personnel management. The position requires on-call status and attendance at university events.

What You'll Do

• Oversee Physical Plant operations including transportation, building and mechanical maintenance, custodial, grounds, utilities, and Central Stores, as well as plant administration, construction, long-range planning, space allocation, safety, and personnel management.
• Direct and supervise department staff, approve personnel actions, and coordinate contracted work.
• Oversee all accounting and budgeting for the Physical Plant, including resource allocation on an annual and projected basis.
• Lead facilities planning, multi-year maintenance plans, and space allocation; assist in property acquisitions.
• Oversee campus construction activities: accounting, working with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers.
• Attend necessary meetings with staff, contractors, and agencies; participate in design and construction decisions.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and regulatory requirements; maintain safety standards.
• Be on-call as needed and participate in university events.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in business/public administration, engineering, architecture or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum seven years' relevant experience, with supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience in industrial-level maintenance and construction; familiarity with university funding, finance, and accounting.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and regulatory requirements; understanding of large facility mechanical/electrical systems.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate a diverse workforce and make decisions with significant financial and safety implications.
• Ability to collaborate with administrators, deans, department chairs, and campus stakeholders.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $175,000 - $185,000 per year (USD).
