Director of Human Resources Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Strong career stability with proven HR leadership in construction or manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement HR infrastructure for growing organizations
- Expertise in compensation design, performance management, HR policies, and best practices
- Skilled in employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, and workforce planning
- Experience managing HR functions across multiple locations
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage employees, managers, and senior leaders
- Hands-on leadership approach blending strategic vision with daily operational involvement
Director of Human Resources Preferred Background & Skills
- Experience working with union and non-union employees, including labor relations support
- Familiarity with Paycom or similar HRIS/payroll systems
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience supporting acquisitions and HR integration
- Background in fast-growing, entrepreneurial organizations
Director of Human Resources Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead overall HR strategy and oversee daily HR operations across multiple sites
- Assess and enhance current HR practices to establish scalable systems supporting growth
- Develop and refine HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Design and maintain compensation programs, salary structures, and performance management processes
- Manage employee relations for union and non-union workforce issues
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits, and workforce planning efforts
- Partner closely with senior leadership on organizational design and employee development
- Support HR integration during acquisitions and business expansion
- Maintain and optimize HRIS and payroll systems to increase efficiency and reporting quality
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment and labor laws
- Foster an entrepreneurial, people-focused culture while establishing necessary structure for growth
