Job title: Director of Housekeeping

About the Role The University of Cincinnati is seeking a Director of Housekeeping to oversee daily operational activities of housekeeping staff, ensure quality and safety, manage budgets, and coordinate with Facilities Management. This role provides leadership for housekeeping operations across assigned shifts and may supervise exempt and non-exempt staff.

What You'll Do

  • Direct daily operational activities of housekeeping employees on designated shifts.
  • Develop procedures and standards for the housekeeping program; review and evaluate program.
  • Perform testing procedures requested by Infection Control.
  • Administer and monitor quality assurance program; observe and report needs for repair or refurbishing.
  • Prepare reports; assist in budgetary preparation and planning.
  • Maintain inventory control system; approve supply and repair requests.
  • Serve as liaison with ancillary units; prepare and submit maintenance requests forms to Facilities Management; maintain a log of requests and follow up on incomplete requests.
  • Direct the selection, bidding, ordering and placement of furniture, equipment and other supplies for new buildings and renovations.
  • Supervise all staff and material moves working with contract movers to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
  • Perform related duties as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree (Seven years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement).
  • Three (3) years of experience in industrial or institutional housekeeping; may also require one (1) year supervision.
  • Ability to supervise exempt and non-exempt staff; strong leadership, hiring/firing, and performance evaluation skills.
  • Experience with budgetary planning, inventory control, procurement, and vendor coordination.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control testing procedures and safety standards as applicable.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills; ability to coordinate with Facilities Management and ancillary units.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and service.
