About the Role Lead Illumina’s Global Facilities Engineering and Center of Excellence teams to develop, implement, and maintain engineering and project management strategies aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements. Drive operational excellence and sustainable infrastructure across global sites.

What You'll Do

• Define vision and strategy for the Engineering and Project Management organizations in support of corporate goals.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure successful execution of global facility operations, projects and initiatives in a highly regulated environment, including maintenance, infrastructure, planning, utilities, fire and life safety, and site capital and sustainability projects.
• Develop and deliver a Center of Excellence program for engineering activities including talent management, training, procurement, governance, and program analytics.
• Build, lead and mentor a high-performing team of technical experts and facilitate SME-led work streams to implement best practices.
• Lead cross-functional work streams to develop standards, processes, and programs for facility design, maintenance, validation, qualification, and commissioning to speed delivery and lower costs.
• Act as SME for investigation, troubleshooting and solutioning of engineering challenges; ensure change control and compliance across qualified systems.
• Collaborate with regional Facilities leaders to support site and regional goals; oversee engineering projects ensuring timeliness, budget adherence, and high quality; ensure compliance with regulations and quality protocols.
• Partner with Workplace Strategy in developing Workplace Design Standards; contribute to planning and design of expansions and renovations.
• Partner with Procurement on parts specifications and provider selection; oversee contracted resources for quality, safety and on-site performance.
• Support CSR initiatives by delivering engineering solutions aligned with zero-emissions targets; collaborate with CSR Center of Excellence.
• Manage annual capital and operating site plans; coordinate with Global Facilities, Real Estate and EHS; work with IT, HR, Finance and Procurement.
• Establish cross-functional relationships with Global Operations and R&D to act as a value-add partner.
• Lead exploration and optimization of Facilities Engineering and Project Management technology solutions; develop total cost of ownership models and manage budgets and project costs.

What We're Looking For

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 18 years of related experience, with 10+ years of management experience.
• Project commissioning and facility validation experience.
• Experience building a global organization and COE including standard processes, workflows and technology solutions.
• Prior industry experience with large-scale capital projects and facility management of labs, cold storage, and controlled environments including GMP facilities.
• Experience in identification and delivery of energy efficiency and alternative energy solutions initiatives (preferred).
• Experience working directly with the FDA (desired).
• Experience with CMMS, IWMS, SAP, EAM or enterprise work order management systems (required).
• Experience in change control and calibration (preferred).
• Proven expertise in cost-effective management and delivery of high-cost construction and facility-related capex projects.
• Strong business and budgeting acumen and ability to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
• Understanding and management of procurement & contracting processes.

Nice to Have

• Energy efficiency initiatives and sustainable project experience (preferred).
• FDA-related experience (desired).
