About the Role Databricks is hiring for a Director of Engineering in Bengaluru, leading data infrastructure initiatives and platform delivery. This posting reflects one of several engineering leadership openings across APJ and globally.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow the Bengaluru engineering team focused on data infrastructure and platform reliability
- Define technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for core data components
- Drive delivery with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate with product, data science, and platform teams to align on priorities
- Hire, mentor, and develop senior engineers and managers
- Instill engineering discipline, code quality, and operational excellence
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of software/engineering leadership experience with data infrastructure and distributed systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and people management skills
- Deep knowledge of big data tooling, distributed platforms, and cloud services
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field
- Proven track record delivering large-scale data infrastructure projects
Nice to Have
- Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks technology stack, or similar
- Experience building and scaling data platforms
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD, observability, and SRE practices
