Department: Center for Student Success

Purpose of Department:

The Center for Student Success is a combination of Academic and Career Advising, Academic Support/Tutorial Services and First Year Experience/Retention and is designed to be a one stop shop for assisting students be successful at PEACE.

Summary of Position:

The Director of Employer Engagement and Career Design leads the Career Design Studio and supports student workforce readiness by developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with employers, community organizations, and alumni to expand internship opportunities and build a robust career pipeline for students. The Director teaches professional development courses as part of the Peace Core general education and collaborates across campus to integrate career readiness into the student experience.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Employer Relations and Outreach

  • Conduct proactive outreach to employers, community partners, and alumni to create internship and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Build and maintain a career database that connects students to opportunities, employers, and workforce pathways.
  • Provide employers with information regarding the services offered by the Career Design studio, including guidelines on internship development and campus recruitment practices.
  • Manage and coordinate the logistics for career treks and other off-campus employer site visits for students.
  • Manage follow-up communications and engagement with students after career treks, industry site visits, and other employer engagement initiatives.

Student Career Coaching and Instruction

  • Oversee the Career Design Studio to create a collaborative space for student learning to support career readiness.
  • Meet 1:1 with students to support job and internship searches, resume development, interview preparation, and career decision making.
  • Teach 4 credits per academic year and support student learning related to career exploration, professional development, and workplace readiness.
  • Support Peace Online students through targeted coaching and access to career resources to support their career mobility.

Collaboration and Reporting

  • Collaborate with faculty and student life partners to strengthen career integration across the student experience.
  • Align employer engagement, internship development, and student support efforts with the values and mission of Peace.
  • Track employer relationships, internship participation, and related outcomes for reporting and assessment.
  • Report directly to the Dean of Student Success and provide regular updates on outreach activity, partnership development, and student engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Undergraduate Research and Faculty fellow to advance course-based projects that embed career readiness, undergraduate research, and immersive learning into the curriculum.

Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) Grant Support

  • Advance the goals, objectives, and activities of William Peace University’s Title III SIP grant as they relate to career readiness, employer engagement, and experiential learning.
  • Collaborate with the Title III Project Director and grant team to implement funded activities according to the approved project plan and timeline.
  • Collect, maintain, and report accurate data on grant performance measures, including student participation in career coaching, internships, and employer engagement initiatives.
  • Complete time and effort documentation and comply with all applicable federal regulations, university policies, and grant terms and conditions.

Supervises Assistant Director of Career Development and Internships. May supervise student workers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher

Education

  • Administration, or relevant field with three years of career advising or similar experience in a higher education setting;
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and sustaining strategic partnerships with employers, industry leaders, and community organizations to expand career opportunities for students.
  • Experience cultivating relationships with employers to identify workforce needs, emerging industry trends, and opportunities for internships, experiential learning, and employment.
  • Experience coordinating employer-facing initiatives, including career fairs, networking events, on-campus recruitment, employer panels, and industry partnership programs.
  • Experience teaching, facilitating, or presenting to student audiences.
  • Strong organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative student success team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in employer relations, career services, student success, higher education, workforce development, or related field.
  • Experience working with grants, including supporting grant-funded programs, monitoring project activities, assisting with reports or documentation, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Hours per week:

  • Full Time (12-Months, On-Site with occasional remote work opportunities)
