About the Role The Director of Computer Vision will drive the technical vision, research and engineering execution for Motorola Solutions' Computer Vision Platform, leading foundational research, architecture, and end-to-end MLOps across edge and cloud to deliver scalable visual intelligence solutions that align with product and business goals. What You'll Do
- Provide executive technical leadership to a unified research and engineering organization, defining the technical architecture, strategy, and roadmap for the Computer Vision Platform, translating product requirements into robust specifications and ensuring delivery of next-generation visual intelligence solutions that scale.
- Define the long-term foundational computer vision research agenda and foster a culture of scientific excellence.
- Manage and scale a distributed CV research and engineering organization across geographies, overseeing multiple teams and shaping recruiting and mentoring strategy.
- Own end-to-end MLOps and deployment for central reusable CV models and foundational AI infrastructure, including scalable training, deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization across edge and cloud.
- Define and track technical performance metrics (latency, throughput, model efficiency, reliability) to measure engineering success and drive continuous improvement.
- Evaluate cutting-edge CV research, lead build-versus-buy decisions, and proactively identify and mitigate risks; make critical architecture and engineering decisions.
- Lead with an ownership mindset to advance product goals, architecture, and delivery in a dynamic environment. What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of technical leadership experience leading computer vision teams and organizations, building and deploying enterprise-scale platforms in production.
- Deep expertise in computer vision, machine learning algorithms, and the end-to-end MLOps lifecycle; 5+ years hands-on CV model development or CV research.
- Experience defining long-term technical vision, roadmaps, and architecture for large-scale platforms; proven ability to define metrics for engineering excellence.
- Experience managing a unified, distributed engineering and research organization of 50–100 people across geographies; mentoring senior technical talent.
- Strong analytical and research skills with experience driving AI performance metrics, real-time video processing, and inference optimization.
- Track record translating ambiguous product concepts and customer needs into clear roadmaps and architectural specs.
- Start-up mentality and agility; ownership, bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and 0-to-1 product development.
- Domain knowledge in public safety, security-focused software, mission-critical systems, or emergency communications is a plus. Nice to Have
- Startup or fast-paced environment experience valued; ability to work with ambiguity and drive 0-to-1 development with limited resources.
- Familiarity with public safety or security-focused domains; experience deploying CV at scale in enterprise settings.
- Experience building and deploying CV pipelines end-to-end across edge and cloud. Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $250,000 USD - $290,000 USD
