About the Role The Chemistry department at Marquette University seeks a Director of Advanced Laboratories & Undergraduate Professional Development to lead upper-division laboratory courses and coordinate professional development opportunities for chemistry and biochemistry majors. The role involves developing and implementing the laboratory curriculum for upper-level labs, collaborating with faculty, and promoting undergraduate research, internships, career opportunities, and industry connections in the chemical field. What You'll Do
- Develop, test, implement, and assess the laboratory curriculum for upper-division courses, working with faculty involved in the lecture portions.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate TAs assigned to the upper-division labs.
- Teach both the lecture and laboratory portions of one upper-division course per year.
- Maintain instrumentation and chemical inventories.
- Facilitate undergraduate research opportunities, including summer undergraduate research fellowships.
- Cultivate internship opportunities for Chemistry and Biochemistry majors and serve as the primary contact for companies and organizations seeking to hire graduates.
- Organize yearly panels with professionals from industry, government, and the non-profit sector; arrange student visits to chemical companies in the Milwaukee area.
- Serve as advisor to CheMU, the undergraduate chemistry student organization.
- Advise students pursuing graduate and/or professional studies. What We're Looking For
- M.S. in Chemistry or related field
- Three years of teaching experience or other suitable professional experience Nice to Have
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field
- Experience directing laboratory courses at colleges or universities Compensation & Benefits
