Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admission, the Director of Admission manages the day-to-day admissions operations for all programs in the law school and leads the administration of financial aid and scholarships. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Admission, the position leads the admissions team in enrolling the most promising possible Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), Master of Legal Studies (MLS), and Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) cohorts.

Job responsibilities include collaborating with senior administrators throughout Emory School of Law to create and execute recruitment and admissions initiatives; providing leadership and oversight of the law school's admissions and financial aid operations for all programs; advancing enrollment goals through comprehensive financial aid practices; managing the student admissions process to support student success; producing regular reports on progress toward enrollment goals; monitoring financial aid resources to meet the needs of new and current students; ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and university policies; cultivating professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; developing strategic plans and budgets linked to outcomes; analyzing data to shape enrollment strategies; continuously assessing the effectiveness of admissions and financial aid practices to address enrollment trends; promoting engagement with students and alumni to communicate Emory Law messaging; maintaining communication with various academic areas; fostering an environment of effective communication within the Office of Admission and Scholarships; reviewing and evaluating application files and conducting interviews; organizing and supervising admissions events, both in person and virtually; collaborating with the Associate Director of Enrollment Marketing and Office of Communications on marketing materials and targeted communication plans, including electronic communications and social media.

Additional job details include administering financial aid and scholarships for the law school; managing correspondence including admissions decision and scholarship letters; tracking and analyzing data and generating regular operational, statistical, and narrative reports; initiating and maintaining relationships with students, career advisors, administrators, alumni, faculty, staff, and peers; identifying and developing new local, national, and international markets for targeted recruitment; overseeing international outreach efforts for enrollment in all Emory Law programs; collaborating with faculty, alumni, the Emory community, and other educational institutions to develop partnerships and pipelines for future applicants domestically and internationally; participating in the development of a strategic recruitment travel plan and coordinating domestic and international travel.

Minimum Qualifications

A master's or JD degree; three years of experience in admissions, financial aid, or a related field at a selective institution of higher education; ability to travel domestically and internationally with heavier travel during the fall recruitment period; effective writing and public speaking skills.

Preferred Qualifications
-
A JD degree; additional foreign language skills are a plus; exceptional writing and public speaking skills; the ideal candidate will have at least one of the following: three or more years of experience managing financial aid programs, including need and merit scholarships and processing of federal and private student loans; or three or more years of experience managing LLM or other legal graduate school admissions; or three or more years of experience managing admissions interview programs. Note: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
