Job title: Director, Knowledge Graph & Semantics - HYBRID ROLE
About the Role We are seeking an experienced engineering leader to build and operate Vertex's enterprise Knowledge Graph and Semantic Layer: the unified, navigable representation of Vertex's data, concepts, and relationships that AI agents and analytical systems traverse to reason over our business. Vertex's AI team is at the center of our AI-first strategy, delivering AI solutions that empower executives, researchers, and business users. This hybrid role requires three days per week in the Boston office.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, build, and operation of Vertex's enterprise Knowledge Graph and Semantic Layer that enables AI agents and analytics to reason over our business.
- Architect scalable data representations and semantic models to enable discovery, reasoning, and analytics across Vertex's data and concepts.
- Partner with AI, Data, and Engineering teams to define strategy, roadmap, and execution for the Knowledge Graph and Semantic Layer.
- Own the performance, reliability, and governance of the knowledge graph and semantic layer in production.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an engineering leader.
- Experience building and operating enterprise Knowledge Graphs and Semantic Layers (or equivalent data representations).
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to communicate with executives, researchers, and business users.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver AI-focused data solutions in a hybrid/office-based environment.
