The Director of Graduate School Admission leads the Graduate School’s recruitment and admissions strategy, overseeing the full enrollment funnel, including marketing, lead generation, admissions operations, data management, reporting, budgeting, and yield initiatives. The position supervises professional staff and provides recruitment and admissions oversight for certificate, master’s, and doctoral programs serving domestic and international students. As a member of the Graduate School leadership team, the Director contributes to strategic planning, operational decision-making, and initiatives that advance graduate education and student success. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Graduate & Professional Studies and Dean of the Graduate School, with a dotted-line relationship to the Dean of Admissions, the Director collaborates across the university to align graduate and undergraduate enrollment strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc. Compile and analyze data to develop appropriate strategic decisions for the admissions/recruitment team goals and efforts. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with internal university offices, including Undergraduate Admissions, professional schools, and academic programs, as well as external partners and contracted third-party vendors. Lead collaborative efforts to align marketing and advertising, communications, technology platforms, student recruitment, admissions, and yield engagement strategies in support of Graduate School enrollment goals.
  • Manage the enrollment funnel through planning and implementing on-campus, off-campus, and virtual recruitment efforts in alignment with the strategic plan, key performance indicators, enrollment targets and admissions team. Oversee execution of large-scale events and target populations including fall recruitment, admitted student day, yield efforts, and pipeline programs. Partner with Undergraduate Admissions to align recruitment strategies, share best practices, and ensure a coordinated approach that supports Marquette’s broader educational mission.
  • Supervise Slate software functions for internal and external audience including inquiry and applicant communication campaigns, application integration with university student information system, application review process, admission decisions, and admitted student portal.
  • Work in partnership with the Office of Marketing and Communication to review and approve all marketing collateral including program brochures, print and digital media, website design and copy, social media, and video. Analyze data to determine campaign and budget effectiveness, respond to market trends and pivot efforts as needed.
  • Coordinate recruitment and admission efforts with the Office of International Education including external partnership engagement and communication, I-20 processing and onboarding.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that advance graduate education, strengthen graduate student support, and support enrollment growth. Partner with the Dean, Graduate School staff, Undergraduate Admissions, professional schools, and academic programs to align admissions and recruitment strategies across the university and promote a coordinated, mission-centered approach to enrollment.
  • Optimize and manage the annual recruitment and advertising budget in alignment with the strategic plan and key performance indicators. Provide budget projections, approve P-Card transactions and maintain fiscal responsibility. Produce and manage enrollment reporting in coordination with The Office of Institutional Research and Analysis and Information Technology Services, provide enrollment and narrative reports for Board of Trustees quarterly meetings, University Annual Report, and Graduate School Bulletin.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in SAHE (Student Affairs in Higher Education), Business, Marketing, Communication, HR
  • A minimum of six years of recruitment, admissions and event planning experience with a thorough understanding of the enrollment funnel to make strategic and data driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated management experience with the ability to collaborate, lead, inspire and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to think critically, prioritize and analyze issues to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated integrity, resilience, accountability, and ethical behavior.
  • The ability to take initiative, maintain effective work habits to produce high quality results and project a professional presence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Slate, PowerBI and D2L.
  • Marketing and advertising experience
  • Willingness to embrace the University’s mission and values. A strong understanding and support for a Jesuit Catholic education and mission.
