Director Engineering, Digital Insurance

About the Role A Director Engineering, Digital Insurance will lead and oversee International Banking ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The role emphasizes building a customer-focused culture and leading cross-functional teams to deliver technology-enabled insurance solutions for the International Bank. What You'll Do

• Lead and drive a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Establish and evolve the culture and recruitment practices for the Insurance Technology team to attract, retain, develop and motivate talent, foster an inclusive work environment, communicate Scotiabank's vision/values and business strategy, and manage succession and development for projects delivering value to the International Bank.
• Lead and influence teams that do not report directly to you.
• Maintain and enhance subject matter expertise for the Insurance Team by staying current with evolving industry best practices in technology and people management, deploying relevant learnings, tools or methodologies.
• Provide guidance and innovative thought leadership.
• Support the Scotiabank IT strategy with a clear value proposition, methodologies, training, tracking, and change management, and communicate at all levels.
• Work with business partners to achieve cost efficiencies while driving innovation and aligning to the needs of internal and external customers.
• Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Possess technical experience to lead a technical team and ensure results in a specific application, with hands-on willingness to dive into detail as necessary. What We're Looking For

• Technical background in engineering and digital insurance; ability to provide technology leadership and direction.
• Experience with IT strategy, change management and driving innovation in financial services.
