About this role

Director, Emerging Platforms & Content Strategy

The U.S. Consumer Marketing team (USCM) is part of the U.S. Consumer Services Group and is responsible for making Membership essential by creating and delivering world-class marketing for our differentiated products and services that drives demand and inspires engaged Card Members across the customer lifecycle. The Prospect, Partner & Customer Growth (PPCG) team delivers member-centric performance marketing that fuels this success by gaining share of premium demand, deepening Card Member engagement, and marketing premium partnerships and products that deliver differentiated membership experiences.

As consumer discovery rapidly evolves, the way customers find, evaluate and choose products is changing. AI-powered search, LLMs, agentic experiences, content ecosystems and emerging platforms are reshaping the customer journey and creating new opportunities to influence consideration and drive acquisition. The Director, Emerging Platforms & Content Strategy will build Amex’s next content-led acquisition engine—using customer insight and AI to determine what content we need, transform how we create and improve it, and activate it across owned and third-party ecosystems to help more prospects understand, value and choose Amex. This role will set the strategic agenda, build new capabilities and connect efforts across the Prospect ecosystem to accelerate growth. This is an ideal opportunity for a transformational marketing leader who thrives in ambiguity, builds new capabilities from the ground up and is excited to shape the future of performance marketing.

Responsibilities

  • What You'll Do
  • Define and lead Prospect’s content-led acquisition strategy, identifying customer needs, topics and opportunities where content can most meaningfully influence discovery and acquisition.
  • Build the next generation of content capabilities, applying AI and emerging technologies to transform how content is identified, created, optimized, distributed and maintained at scale.
  • Develop a connected content ecosystem across first and third party channels, partnering across channel teams to strengthen authority, extend reach and create more integrated customer journeys.
  • Identify and incubate emerging acquisition opportunities, translating changes in consumer behavior into focused pilots, learning agendas and clear recommendations to scale, evolve or stop.
  • Lead key external partnerships and capability evaluations, translating new platform and vendor capabilities into meaningful marketing use cases.
  • Lead and develop a Senior Marketing Manager, providing strategic leadership and team direction.
  • Partner with analytics to evolve measurement, connecting AI indicators to business outcomes.
  • Partner closely with critical internal and external partners to ensure work is connected.

Qualifications

  • Who You Are

  • A commercially minded marketing leader with a strong track record of translating customer needs and market shifts into strategies that drive measurable business growth.

  • Experience in content, digital growth, acquisition or adjacent disciplines, with a clear understanding of how content influences customer decision-making across first and third party environments.

  • Demonstrated experience building or transforming marketing capabilities using AI, automation or emerging technology, moving beyond experimentation to proven business outcomes.

  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, making clear strategic choices where established playbooks do not yet exist.

  • A strong cross functional leader who can influence senior stakeholders without direct authority, establish shared priorities and mobilize teams across complex organizations.

  • A strong people leader and communicator who can move seamlessly between long-term vision, practical execution and executive-level decision making.
