About the Role

Uber is building a portfolio of optional insurance products that give users greater access to relevant, affordable protection while creating new value and revenue for the platform. As the Global Lead of Embedded Insurance Programs, you will own the strategy, growth, execution, and business performance of this global portfolio—from incubation through scale.

This is an entrepreneurial leadership role in a highly matrixed organization. You will identify new opportunities, build the case for investment, and mobilize teams across Uber and external partners to bring products to market. Success will require creating momentum amid competing priorities, demonstrating results, and using those results to unlock further investment and scale.

What you’ll do

• Own Strategy & Business Performance: Set the vision and global strategy for Uber’s Embedded Insurance portfolio, with accountability for growth, program economics, investment decisions, and long-term P&L.

• Incubate & Scale: Identify user and business needs, translate them into new insurance opportunities, build compelling business cases, launch programs, and scale those that demonstrate product-market fit and economic value.

• Lead Through Influence: Mobilize teams across Insurance Risk Management, Tech Product Management, Engineering, Insurance Legal, Actuarial, Claims, Finance, Tax, and Mobility and Delivery business operations. Create alignment, secure resources, resolve competing priorities, and drive execution across teams that do not report to you.

• Develop Insurance Products & Partnerships: Partner with Insurance Risk Managers and external carriers, brokers, and InsurTechs on coverage design, underwriting, carrier strategy, placement, economics, and ongoing program performance.

• Navigate Global Insurance Complexity: Partner with Insurance Legal, Insurance Risk Management, and regional/local Mobility and Delivery operations stakeholders to navigate regulatory, distribution, licensing, data, and consumer protection requirements across markets.

• Optimize Growth: Partner with Tech Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science to measure and reduce sales funnel friction and optimize acquisition, retention, and post-enrollment engagement.

• Lead & Develop the Team: Lead and mentor Uber’s Embedded Insurance team responsible for program analytics, growth marketing, and day-to-day insurance operations, evolving its capabilities as the portfolio scales.

• What You'll Need

• Business Builder: Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop strategy from ambiguity, build compelling business cases, and turn early-stage ideas into scalable businesses or programs.

• Execution Through Influence: A track record of delivering complex outcomes through others, securing resources and driving accountability across highly matrixed organizations.

• Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Strong business judgment and experience owning or materially influencing revenue, program economics, investment decisions, or P&L performance.

• Insurance Expertise: Deep knowledge of insurance product development, underwriting, distribution, and carrier relationships, ideally across consumer products such as personal accident, income protection, travel, and/or motor.

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, including experience partnering with Tech Product Management and Engineering to deliver digital products or customer experiences.

• Analytical & Adaptable: Strong analytical judgment and comfort using data to make decisions, combined with the ability to create momentum amid ambiguity, constrained resources, and competing priorities.

• Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in insurance, financial services, embedded insurance, or a related industry.

• Demonstrated experience developing, launching, and scaling insurance products or similarly complex regulated programs.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading teams and driving complex cross-functional initiatives through influence.

• Graduate business degree (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.

• Experience building or scaling an emerging business or product portfolio within a large organization.

• Strong understanding of digital platform distribution, gig economy dynamics, and global insurance regulatory frameworks.

• Experience operating across multiple countries or regions.

• Holding A&H and/or P&C agency licenses across the United States or other countries

• For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $225,000 per year - USD $250,000 per year.

• You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
