About the Role Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Director of Billing Compliance to lead the design and execution of a comprehensive billing compliance program across the organization. Reporting to the VP, Chief Compliance Officer with a dotted line to the VP, Revenue Performance Management, this role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance of hospital technical and professional fee billing. The Director will provide mentorship to the Billing Compliance team and collaborate with clinical, administrative, and financial leaders to set standards and drive best practices. What You'll Do
- Design and implement a comprehensive billing compliance program, including goals, policies, and procedures to align with internal policies and state, federal, and local rules.
- Monitor billing practices, conduct risk assessments, identify discrepancies, and lead audits; present findings to senior management and recommend corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver training on clinical documentation, coding, and billing for physicians, APPs, infusion nurses, and other staff; ensure regulatory updates are effectively communicated.
- Identify potential compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies; collaborate with legal and risk management to address issues; investigate instances of suspected non-compliance and implement corrective action plans.
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities, produce reports for regulatory bodies and leadership, and support committees such as the Compliance Oversight Committee, Billing Compliance Workgroup, and Board Audit and Compliance Committee.
- Collaborate across the enterprise with clinical, administrative, and financial teams; align messaging with partner organizations (e.g., Boston Children’s Hospital). Serve as primary point of contact and SME for billing compliance inquiries.
- Supervise staff: hire, develop, set expectations, provide feedback, and evaluate performance against objectives. What We're Looking For
- Strategic leader and subject matter expert in healthcare billing compliance.
- Experience designing and leading billing compliance programs, auditing and monitoring, risk management, and training.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with clinical and administrative leaders; ability to work with external partners and regulators.
- Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks; investigate non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with reporting to senior management and governance committees; strong documentation and project management abilities. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $154,200 - $170,800 per year.
