About the Role As the Director, AI Foundations Engineer, you will lead the development of scalable AI foundations and platform capabilities that enable Novartis to transform data into impactful business outcomes. You will define the strategy, drive architecture decisions, and partner across R&D, Commercial, and IT to deploy trusted AI solutions in a regulated environment. What You'll Do
- Set the vision and roadmap for AI foundations, including model development, data pipelines, MLOps, and governance.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of AI/ML engineers and data scientists; attract top talent and create a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business needs into scalable AI infrastructure and applications.
- Establish standards for security, compliance, reliability, and performance; ensure traceability and auditability in line with healthcare regulations.
- Communicate with executives and stakeholders; report on progress, risks, and impact; influence decision-making. What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience in building large-scale AI foundations or platform teams; track record of delivering AI-enabled solutions.
- Deep expertise in ML/AI engineering, data pipelines, feature stores, MLOps, and scalable model deployment.
- Strong software engineering background (Python/SQL/IDL, cloud platforms such as AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern ML frameworks.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to operate in a matrix organization.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; experience in regulated industries such as healthcare is a plus. Nice to Have
- Experience with healthcare or pharmaceutical data and regulatory requirements.
