Job title: Director, Agent Intelligence
About the Role Vertex is seeking an experienced AI engineering leader to build and operate the Agent Intelligence layer, including memory, personas, skills, and flagship agent experiences that ground Vertex AI agents. This hybrid role requires three days per week in the Boston office as part of Vertex's AI-first strategy to empower executives, researchers, and business users to make faster, more confident decisions. The AI team sits at the center of Vertex's transformational period and strategy.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, and operation of the Agent Intelligence layer (memory, personas, skills) to ensure grounded, consistent Vertex AI agents.
- Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to deliver scalable agent experiences and drive the AI-first strategy.
- Mentor and grow an AI engineering team and establish best practices for agent intelligence.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience leading AI engineering teams and delivering complex AI systems.
- Experience building and operating agent intelligence components (memory, personas, skills).
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment and in Boston.
